idgaf about catching every pokemon. if I don't like them, I don't want them..... certainly don't want to catch more than 1 of the same

To get a L10 entry for a pokemon doesn't require you to catch multiple, each pokemon has various items to do on their list. Catching X is one way, but you also have stuff like Defeat X, see them use a certain move X times, do a relevant side quest, etc. A lot of pokemon are pretty easy to catch though, toss a ball at their back and boom. I've gotten a L42 with just a single ball that way. Also each thing on the list you do earns you more rank points.
