Scarecrow cactus? Sign me up. Second favorite RSE pokémon here behind Altaria.
Somebody may not agree with me on this, but few pokémon deserve to be "Dark" types more than Cacturne. Scarecrows are a bit like Clowns in that they're unexplainably f**king scary and, just like clowns, that translated into popular culture. Thanks to that, Cacturne manages to be scary, mysterious and badass at the same time, a rare combination. As if it wasn't already cool enough, it has a very fashionable hat, I want one too.
The yellow eyes, the creepy mouth, the whole scarecrow-like design... Cacturne is one creepy fellow, but unlike Kabuto/ps it is High Quality Horror Movie creepy instead of trashy and gory low-budget horror movie creepy.
I like to imagine Cacturne hiding in sandstorms, disguising itself as a common cactus and striking its prey when it is blinded by the sand. In "reality", Cacturnes do disguise as common cactuses, but they actually only move at night. Whatever floats your boat I guess, Cact.
My first RSE featured Cacturne, the team was named "Lost in the Desert", it sucked and Cacturne was its cool lead. It was a glass cannon without speed much like Absol, but it featured an incredibly awesome signature move in Needle Arm that made it worth raising even just for that. Sucker Punch was obviously a welcome addition to its wide and amazing movepool. Besides, unlike Absol, Cacturne is capable of doubling as both a physical and special attacker, and if you've read my Electabuzz write-up you probably know by now that I love versatility.
Since Cacturne never really gets enough love and respect and we're talking about a pokémon that I really, really love here, FANART TIME (It has loads and loads of cool fanart, just some of the best):

See, I don't even dislike Maractus, but being a cactus pokémon and having to compete and be compared to SEXTURNE (A friend of mine who's also a Cacturne fan calls it that) is really, really unlucky because no cactus pokémon will probably ever top Cacturne. It's just this astonishing combination of perfect factors that is really hard to replicate, let alone top.
