My initial thoughts..

Things I like:

- Snarf is basically relegated to pet status
- The king is voiced by the original Lion-o
- Cheetara is hawt
- Sword of omens is haw...awesome
- Thundercats symbol staying pretty much the same
- The cats have a game involving climbing trees and bells and a swim if they lose

Things I don't like:

- No Thundera, it starts out on Third Earth
- Seems more like a blah fantasy setting but with cats thrown in (though mentioning technology at least places this in the future so it will surely play a larger role as it is discovered)
- Lion-o being a whiny immature brat obsessed with tech
- No theme song (I'm sure there will be one, but I doubt it will be as awesome as the original)

Perhaps they could be considered descendants of the original thundercats (as it DID reference thundercats of old who beat Mumm-ra) which would make this series less of a remake and more a modernized continuation of the tale. I forgot how the original Thundercats ended actually. I remember there being something about New Thundera and other silly things like that. Everyone having the same name and look pokes a hole in this some, but it could be retconned or perhaps a cyclic approach to destiny...

I lulzed when the king mentioned that lion-o would be a great king, given the aforementioned connection between him and original Lion-o. No Panthro sucks too, though imdb says he has a VA and there are pictures of the new Panthro around (not fond of how he looks either), so yeah...totally not dead, though also probably not going to be the inventor he was ;_;

As for the plot and such, it was pretty standard stuff and had to set the stage and I felt it did a pretty good job, though felt a bit fast paced at times. The action surprised me by being pretty damn good, and definitely something the original show lacked. There will probably be numerous throwbacks to the original, and the amount of things I have seen so far shows me that they really are drawing a lot of inspiration from it in a way that I feel will please new and old fans. I certainly liked it. Sure, I have extremely nostalgic goggles for the original and understand this will not be exactly like it, but for what it is, it seems alright...
