The game automatically has you have conversations with the captain of the guard, and automatically has you walk with him to the king. Eventually you end up asking the king why he asked you to do what you had just done, and he hates that you dare to question him, You are relieved of your role as captain of the red wings airship, and are given one more task by his majesty. You are to leave immediately tomorrow morning, and take out a monster in the nearby cave of mist, and to deliver a package to the nearby village as well. Your best friend, the Dragoon named Kain comes in, asking what you have done. His majesty decides that Kain will go with you, and Cecil and Kain are forced outside of the throne room. Cecil apologizes, and you talk for a bit before Kain takes off, to prepare for tomorrow. From here, you are able to walk around about...maybe 2/3 of the whole castle or so.

There are a lot of people to talk to, including Cecil's childhood sweetheart, Rosa, the White Mage. I was completely in love with her from 93 to 99 or so. She just seemed like the sweetest character ever put in a game. Eventually you make your way to your room, and she visits you, and she tells you that she knows you. She tells you that you're not a coward, and that she knows that you'll do the right thing.

The next day, you leave the castle with Kain, and the Star Wars style intro plays.

The game had me super excited every second that I played it years ago, and even now, I loved every single second of of the 6 hours that I played it a couple hours later as I type this. Yes, the game is generic, but outside of the Final Fantasy universe, only a few games have a similar battle system. This is the first active turn based Final Fantasy, and man is it an awesome beginning!

Well, I guess that's more than enough. Seriously, if you haven't played this, you really need to check it out. Again, if you want to know what cheats I used to beat the game in around 6 hours, check out the link in my sig.

Up tomorrow: The game which I consider to be the first Metroidvania title.
