The Game: Magical Quest, Starring Micky Mouse

The System: SNES

Time Spent on the Game: 2 Hours

The Experience:

Gonna make this one quick.

Ah, Magical Quest, a game I played for like 10 minutes when I was MUCH younger in a store, and haven't played since until now. I watched a playthrough of the game a few years ago on youtube though.

I kinda delayed playing this game for a while, as I have up until now have been under the impression that it's something that requires a lot of focused conservation of your powers just to survive. Man was I off!

Honestly, the game is a lot of fun. Basically, you're Micky, going around in 6 different locations trying to save Pluto. Along the way, you are given 3 different suits, similar to Megaman. Again, this is not a rip off, as Capcom themselves made this game. This game is one of capcom's many awesome Disney games.

Anyways, like Megaman, you use these suits for different bosses, or for different results in the environment. There's the magic suit, which lets you blast your enemies. There's the fireman suit, which puts out fires, stuns, and eventually kills enemies. And there's the...I think it might be called Hiking Suit, but anyways, it's basically a grapple used for climbing. All are quite fun.

The last boss is a giant version of Pete, Who you have to keep jumping up and blasting with your magic or hose to take him out. The ending is quite unexpected, yet heartwarming.

The bottom line is this. It's got somewhat overly cute with lines like "Don't worry Pluto, I'll save you. Besides, I'm worrien' enough for the both of us," but if you can get past that, you'll have a really fun Megaman-like Disney game. Oh, and by the way, the bosses are quite challenging at first too, and require a minor bit of memorization.

Up next: The last NES game for the month. One of the few modern day based isometric shooters.
