I also don't like what the Prequels did to Yoda, as I see him more of a Jedi that would hardly ever use his lightsaber. He's so strong in the Force, he doesn't need it, he didn't need it to fight Dooku especially, the only reason he did is because Lucas is stupid and wanted Yoda to use a lightsaber and bounce all over the place because he thought it would be cool, while everyone else thought it was incredibly silly. Which it was.
I also hate that Palpatine uses a lightsaber because I always thought he was above that. But you have to admit that Yoda doesn't look that powerful thanks to the prequels. He fails to do anything to Dooku and he loses straight-up to Palpatine. He may be powerful but thanks to the prequel he doesn't have a good track record
Meh, OT Palps wasn't above dueling, he just hadn't had any need to in years. The RotS novelizaton clarifies that Palpatine relished the opportunity to finally take his saber to the Jedi, and he's known to be a particularly skilled and vicious duelist.
