Always have nearly no practical knowledge and in some case no general knowledge? I mean why, one can't prevent the other, unless none of those people are actually smart and spend 100% of their free time in their books (I know some do but I doubt it's the majority).
Just asking because yesterday I was talking to someone who got the highest grade in his school last year but had no idea who the hell Achilles was (I was talking about the Iliad with some other girl while he was listening), I mean it's not the most common knowledge ever but I thought most people know who the hell Achilles is, especially because of that Achilles' Heel thing, he had no idea what the War of Troy was either.
Anyway, from what I've seen he's far from being the only one in this case, quite a ton of '' smart '' people seem to be pretty stupid out of the classroom.
