Clamperl of Wisdom
"I was afraid we'd been breathing fumes too long!"
Score: 4/10

This is a decent new opening theme song, but it's still nothing compared to the original, and that's not nostalgia talking. The original is just better.

The heroes are going to Macy Island, and oddly, even though May makes jokes about going clothes shopping every time they reach a city, no pun is made about the clothing store. This show will take any excuse to make a pun, but apparently, it's too good for Macy's puns. Who knows.

While en route, they come across the Spoink that lost its pearl from a while back. Why is it floating on a piece of wood in the middle of the ocean? You will never get an explanation. Anyway, it loses its pearl when it drops it into the water, and despite the best efforts of Mudkip and Corphish, it's just plain gone. Lombre refuses to help on the grounds of... no reason. It's never been disobedient before, but now it is. Who knows.

At Macy's, a scientist named Isaea takes them to his Clamperl. His research indicates that Clamperl create the pearls on top of Spoinks' heads. Of course, we've seen that Spoink sometimes live in forests, and very few Clamperl live in trees, but whatever. Isaea also shows them his extremely rare blue pearl, and mentions that he has no idea how they're formed. Because it's so valuable and rare, there is absolutely no security around it and it is right next to an unlocked ground level window.

The moment the heroes leave, Team Rocket tries to steal the pearl, only for Spoink to steal it from them and put it on its head. They disguise themselves as janitors and tell the heroes and Isaea that Spoink stole it, so... that's not even a lie. Spoink starts derping around the island with its new pearl, and accidentally exchanges the blue pearl for a regular pearl that a random wild Clamperl had. The heroes find Spoink a few minutes later and conclude that it must have switched its pearl with a regular pearl. Really? You're making that leap from that evidence?

They go to the Clamperl, who agrees to give the blue pearl in exchange for its original pearl, but Team Rocket shows up. Jessie orders Seviper to use bite,

And they escape with Clamperl. Sadly, however, Clamperl clamps up and won't let them take the pearl, and it stalls them for so long that the heroes show up and blast them off.

Clamperl gives the blue pearl back to Isaea and Spoink gives the regular pearl back to Clamperl. Upon realizing that it needs it more, however, Clamperl gives Spoink back its original pearl and everyone ends up happy.

I'm a little confused, honestly. Was Spoink really so popular as to warrant another episode? Were there people writing into Nintendo asking for more Spoink action?
