Have you ever wondered what alignments the main characters are? Ash is an obvious Chaotic Good, Misty and May are probably Neutral Good, and Brock is probably Lawful Good simply because he's the most composed and responsible of the protagonists, the one least likely to leap into danger. Max and Tracey are hard to place because of their relative lack of personality traits beyond "annoying douchebag" and "useless douchebag," respectively.
James is probably True Neutral; he's a thief, but that's all he is, and he usually opposes the more evil plans his teammates come up with. Jessie I'd call Chaotic Evil, though an incompetent one. Meowth... Jeez... Lawful Evil? He's the main character most inclined to think of plans, albeit terrible ones.
