We begin with Jessie versus Erika. Meowth gets his ass kicked by Jynx, so James cheats and helps Meowth pretend to use transform to turn into a Sunflora. No one suspects that the Meowth might be cheating, they just think it's surprising. After razor leaf fails, he turns into a Kirlia, and then into a Wailord.

It's only after the Wailord balloon pops that the judges finally suspect something is amiss and Jessie is disqualified.

Joshua versus May! I'm pretty disappointed, to be honest. The writers were doing really well with remembering type weaknesses in the past few seasons, but shadow ball works on Skitty here. Skitty and Houndoom start attacking each other in sync, which makes Erika think Joshua and May are "the perfect battling couple," which makes no sense, but Erika is like ten years old so I'll accept it. May wins.

It's now Erika versus May. Erika apologizes for being jealous and annoying earlier. May literally does nothing except spam assist, and with less than thirty seconds left, May is losing by a lot. She uses assist yet again, and Skitty finally gets fire spin, which is enough to win the battle for it. Yay for winning by luck.

Yaaaay.

Despite this, the episode is actually pretty good. I'm a little surprised May used Skitty, to be honest. Each of her ribbons was won by a different pokemon, so to use Skitty twice would imply it's like her "main" pokemon, like Pikachu is to Ash, but... it's not. Combusken is. Skitty has no real significance.
