I know, but there's no practical alternative to the teachers' unions except to throw money and them and hope it somehow works. I know they're corrupt, but they block any attempts at changes and they're some of the biggest contributors to politicians in DC, who won't do anything to stop their blatant corruption.
The heroes are eating when a "sandwich" rolls down a hill. The quality of this superimposing a sandwich over a riceball is so poor that I'm not even sure why they did it, we meet the guy who owns the sandwich a few seconds later and he's obviously Japanese. I mean... did they think American children would be unable to conceive of Japanese people eating Japanese food?
In any case, a guy named Morrison shows up and declares that he plans to be the best pokemon master ever, so Ash challenges him to a battle.
Morrison sends out Beldum, so Ash counters a steel/psychic type with Pikachu instead of Torkoal. They knock each other out, and when Ash learns Morrison has only seven badges, well...
They all go to the pokemon center, where Ash and Morrison continue to act like rivals because Gary was too cool for this show.
Morrison and Ash sleep outside and talk about the stars and leaves and blahblahblah. Let me tell you, I used to go camping all the time as a kid and teenager (I'm an Eagle Scout), and I will take a bed to a sleeping bag every time. Team Rocket attacks while all of their pokemon except for Pikachu and Beldum are with Nurse Joy, and captures their only pokemon, so they have to bring down the balloon by jumping on it and biting. Team Rocket attacks again, so Ash and Morrison just tackle Seviper and Cacnea until they free their pokemon and blastingoffaagain.
