The heroes are at the Slateport City Grand Arena when May's mom shows up and announces that she couldn't have missed May competing, which is why Norman is missing her competing. When May learns Norman isn't here, she says "Okay." in exactly the same way as you imagine the Okay Guy saying it.
May talks about all of the contest rivals she's had over the past three seasons like Kelly and Timmy (remember them?), but she's obviously extremely nervous. Brock explains that 247 trainers will compete in the preliminary matches, but only 64 will advance to the real contest. We see some competitors practicing, including a guy with a Zigzagoon that can... run and jump. This guy has five ribbons? Also here are Drew and Harley and EW ASS SHOT

Harley apologizes for cheating in the previous contest with May, and conspicuously takes a picture of May and Drew. Only Max thinks he's incredibly suspicious. Harley tells May to use only silver wind in the preliminaries because it'll be extra impressive, and she takes his advice because she's even more stupid than Ash. Drew straight-up tells May that that's an incredibly stupid idea, but she decides that Harley is much more trustworthy than a guy who's only played honestly. We also see a cameo of the guy who beat Drew with a Milotic, I don't know what's going to happen, but I bet he's going to be the winner.
The next day (I assume), Drew and Harley sail through the preliminaries, and May uses Harley's advice to use only silver wind, and to Harley's surprise, it actually works.
She then announces that she plans to continue using only silver wind, and Drew disapprovingly tells her with his eyes that she's a complete dumbass.
