Faris, Terra, Lulu, Ashe and Lightning aren't bad. Ashe and Lightning are actually pretty damn cool. But they're also the leads...
Terra is annoying. Lulu...eh, she's not the worst but she gets on my nerves a fair bit because I feel like the "jerk" side of her gets played up too strong and it overshadows her better qualities. Faris is just kind of a walking vehicle for jokes like most FFV characters which makes her likable, but nothing special. Ashe I like a lot as a character and Lightning is pretty great. I'd say around FFX they started getting better about it in general.
