The state of the contests has absolutely nothing to do with the presence of Zelda or Nintendo in the brackets.

It has everything to do with their presence on the website.

This website is practically gagging on Nintendo's junk, and that's not going to change any time soon. Sales figures don't matter. This website isn't gaining any new traffic and only the old, nostalgia fueled gamers remain, meaning that contest results are going to stagnate. Three classic Nintendo rivalries in the top four, one of which was a lock to win the entire contest. Obviously this is a problem.

If you ask me, we need to start merging our contests with Gamespot's. I know people hate the way their contests are run and wouldn't want to give up our "thing," but we really don't have a choice if we want to keep things from becoming cookie cutter. Hell, if we just lent Gamespot our vote policing, their contests would probably turn out pretty good.
