Sig couldn't even get below that number before the marathon (except on Virtual Console, which has 2 less minutes of lag compared to N64), but he practiced for like 2 months straight without doing any runs really, and then he goes and gets a time almost 3 minutes faster. pretty crazy stuff.
Kind of reminds me of Cosmo. I remember a few months back when Cosmo was trying to retake the WR at around 2:37 it would usually take multiple runs to get to Adult Link, let alone the later parts of the run. After he got it I kind of stopped paying attention for a while. Then, a few weeks ago I stumble into Cosmo's marathon and he routinely crushes that mark and can almost effortlessly do a complete run without any major mistakes.
I'm convinced he'll have the WR for OoT under 2:30 fairly soon, assuming he keeps going for it with any regularity.
