I will very strongly argue that MGS3 is better as a cinematic game than MGS4. Maybe MGS4 is better in cinematics, or in gameplay, but not in both together simultaneously.
MGS3 is better in both. MGS4 got a bit dull and dragged on a lot of the times, and also suffered from too much anime physics at times. Which isn't necessarily bad, but the first three games were more realistic, it just seemed MGS4 got a little crazy. I do enjoy Raiden's fights, but I still think they're a bit too over the top.
The scenes in MGS3 just have a certain charm to them that I can't explain. I always enjoy watching them all and I don't get bored by them often. The action sequences are also top-notch.
As for gameplay, MGS3 is still better and has WAY better boss fights.
