I hate it because the acting and dialogue are garbage and is a stain on the SW name.

Even if I grant what you're saying is true, which I don't, the OT had more than nothing. Luke and Han in Ep IV both had arcs that made sense whether or not you found them deep and compelling. Those characters are easy to understand. There's just too much of Rogue One that doesn't add up in terms of character development.


While true, I didn't really feel it took away from the movie. It wasn't trying to establish a series, it was just telling a story about a handful of people that nobody knew, and I feel it did a good job of that. If they were significant characters with meaningful backstories and development, it'd seem incongruous that they saw no recognition in later entries. It was a bunch of nobodies, and I liked it that way.
