He's spot on, though. Nintendo isn't even the only video game company that does it. Look at FFXV Limited edition. There are fucking things that have a production cost of literally 0 yet companies will enforce artificial scaricty. See: Limited availability skins in various games like Overwatch, Smite, etc.

To Nintendo, this wasn't about the money, it was about raising the value of their brand, and to that end the NES Classic accomplished its goal.

Oh yeah. PR stunt.
