The NES Classic itself was already overpriced at 60 bucks. Was it an *ok* deal? Sure but fuck... these are 30 year old games. Even a classic like Super Mario is realistically a 99 cent game in the year 2017.

The price was fine. It was part gaming and part collector's item. Pricing it lower would have been foolish.

I also wonder if this is a move to try and up sales on the eShop now that the Switch is out. It's sad that literally everyone here disbelieves Nintendo's official explanations.

To me the price is off either way you look at it. If we're looking at worth, I still think 60 for 30 NES games is just too much. I think 20-30 would have been more reasonable if we're looking at consumer value.

If you're looking at the revenue side of it, they clearly undercharged. There are people out there willing to spend over 150 bucks for this thing on the second hand market. Now that it's discontinued that number will likely go up even higher (people are already asking 300 on ebay). Realistically they could have priced the thing at 100 and it still would have been flying off the shelf. I guess in the end 60 is just a weird price point IMO.
