Under no scenario does resigning improve his situation, it could only hurt him. Therefore, he HAS to stay in office and ride things out. I'm sure things would have been better for Nixon if he had stayed in office and never gotten his pardon. Overlooking that Nixon arguably had complicity after the fact by choosing to shield his staffers even if he didn't order it, it's still a terrible analogy because Trump is completely innocent. More importantly, Nixon didn't have a fucking empire built on his name which is vulnerable to a bad reputation.
