We usually wind up with a ton of food and drinks and it turns into a great time. I rarely drink outside of parties and I always have a full bar ready to go that's mainly the result of friends bringing extra provisions to our get-togethers. As the host, my rule is to assume nothing and have everyone covered, whether it's BYOB or not. If you have tons of extra stuff, congrats - you'll have a great night and enough to do it again next time.
