Harry Potter is over. Let it die.

I suggest you avoid any franchises like Marvel or DC(or any longstanding manga series) in general. When you create high fantasy, you tend to expand on it a lot if it has any amount of significant success. And among Western writers, she is not unique(aside from pottermore). You got a lot to learn about Western fiction and fiction in general. Maybe Goldylocks and the Three Bears is up to your speed. One story and done.

That's not a high fantasy thing. That's more a matter of just keeping the ball rolling for profits.

The thing with jk Rowling the stuff she adds she acts like it's been their the whole time like wasn't made up on the spot

As a creator myself, I can definitely tell you we come up with all sorts of things like this, years before anything is even published/put out just to help ourselves with world building and other reasons. Not everything "canon" gets put into the final project for obvious reasons though, and there's no harm in her talking about the stuff that didn't since so many people love the series.

Actually, the whole point of canon is something being within the work. If it's not in the final published work, it's not canonical. Granted, she can always expand the canon with new works, but an author's word by itself doesn't mean much before then particularly because they can always change their mind.

I recommend you read one shot stories for now on. High Fantasy isn't for you clearly.
