How likely are you to kill someone in you're house (while being justified in doing so)

Very likely, in the case of a home invasion given the Castle Doctrine.

How likely are you to consider using the gun for other means

c'mon mate a gun won't solve the problem

Sounds like it solves it pretty well.

I'm sure there is pure break-in statistics somewhere (and likely by state/city), but I recall seeing a study this year that says your chance of being attacked during a home invasion is literally almost 0%. So, while you may technically have a right to shoot someone invading your house, if you're keeping a gun for self defense, instead of home defense, you're wasting your time, money, and statistically, putting yourself and others in greater harm over something that might be as likely as getting struck by lightning, depending on where you live.

If there was such a survey, it'd be complete bullshit given how many home invasions turn into rape, a physical attack, etc. And even if the odds were actually low, do you want to be that .01% whose wife and daughters are raped and murdered while you're left for dead? Because that literally happened in my state not that long ago.

an ar-15 style gun is not for home defense

that's either a shotgun, or a handgun

It clearly is. A handgun is less for home defense than a ar-15. A handgun's primary appeal is the fact you can conceal it, which makes it better for personal defense or murder.

Who locks their guns up

People who enjoy being defenseless.

I thought that the law required you to have them locked in.

lol, just lol. Offhand, I can't even think of a state that requires it. Even the liberal states just try to encourage their use by not taxing for them.

A gun in your house makes you more likely to die by your own hand, or by the hand of someone else with that gun. Or for those living in your home to die. That's why you keep that shit locked up if you have it.

Guns don't make you more likely to commit suicide. That's a fucking ridiculous claim.
