I'm not sure what you mean by that. I'm not an electrician so I'm very likely talking out of my ass, and you're also in Canadia as I recall, but light switches usually just have the 'hot' wire coming in through the switch and going up to the light. Sometimes they'll have a ground, but (unless Canadia is different) the light itself should have a ground which makes the ground from the switch somewhat superfluous.

I'm not sure if there are any situations in relatively modern electrical where this would not be the case.
