In my early days when I couldn't be as picky as I am today, I had a boss who would randomly stand behind me, staring at my screen and if I stopped coding for more than 5 seconds, would ask "Why aren't you coding?". He hated that I had to take time to think before coding (I was paid per hour at the time). He was a software engineer himself, and while he was definitely faster than me, he was still an hypocrite >.<

I worked at another place where, while I wasn't directly affected, they would ask some of the other software engineers to go directly in the database and delete all traces of some products we had (it was an online retail company) so they could "forget" to pay suppliers and just say it was a bug in the software.

Another company I worked for wanted me to work 15-20 hours a day, every day, including weekends, right after I was hired to make some impossible deadline.

In all cases I just up and quit. Not worth my mental sanity.
