I experienced my first death in the family (old enough to remember that is, one came before that) when I was around 5, and it was my favorite uncle, he was a constant part of my life up until then. and it came out of no where too. he was fine one day, found dead in his bed the next.

Sounds rough man. Still I think my 'problem' is I like to try and understand things before I react to them. Meaning I understand why funerals are a thing and choose to think of them as a way to say goodbye rather than get upset over something that is inevitable. That might not make much sense but it's the only explanation I've got.

funerals are weird in my family. its pretty much the closest thing we get to a family reunion. so its a mixture of sadness and people catching up on old times
