Gerald's Game is brutal on so many fronts, holy shit. what a ride.
not sure I like the slapped-on explanation that the moonlight man was a real, actual grave robber. he still looks terrifying but i think it would have worked way better if he was just left as this mysterious, haunting entity.
I read the book in high school and thought the exact same thing about him
For what it's worth though, the movie is pretty faithful to the book
One difference from the book: In the movie he just kind of had a heart attack, but in the movie, it's brought on by her kicking him in the junk when he's trying to force himself on her. It makes her a little more complicit in his death (it was self defense, but she wrestled with the idea that nobody's going to believe her and that even if she manages to escape, she's still responsible for it) ---
