in the us? For real?

Yes, but only a shitty cop would actually enforce it.

that's really stupid. So are they supposed to bike on the streets, where cars drive?!

So they are supposed to bike on the sidewalk at speeds of 10-20 MPH, where people and children walk? That's why there are dedicated lanes. And if there aren't, it's up to both the driver and cyclist to not be assholes and take each other into consideration.
As a driver, if you see a bike, limit your speed. As a cyclist, try to stay to the side and if you hear a car behind you, move aside.

Or you bike on biking trails and let cars use the streets mean for them.

Streets are nice and flat and I'd love to play catch with my friends there, but I don't do that, there are parks for that

A bicycle is a means of transportation, not just something people use for exercise or leisure. As such, that's a terrible analogy you tried to make.
"Someone who drives a bike" is not synonymous to "asshole who rides in the middle of the road wearing bike shorts"
