I remember there were some boss fights and stuff but I can't tell you how the hell they worked, I wanna say it was just mashing through a bunch of dialogue. It's ostensibly a platformer but the platforming worked pretty much the same way as the original (besides the 3D plane shit), which is to say not really substantial enough to be a core game mechanic.
