Write-Up:
An oldie but goodie as they say. Definitely a hippie's anthem of sorts imo. I actually just heard this on the radio yesterday which is kind of funny because I didn't realize that I'd be ranking it today. It's most definitely a favorite among Steely Dan fans and is one of the band's more notable songs from their careers. Why is it so low then? Welp... it is from the 70's and as I think I stated somewhere before, I have a very specific interest from the decade that overrides my opinion of everything else. The 70's were a time when most music actually had meaning as many songs were about breaking from the norms of society and dealt with real world struggles... I mean within reason I suppose as I got a buddy that'll tell me that in the 70's music was mostly about sex, drugs and fighting the power! Whatever that truly means from his perspective since he was born in the early 90's lol. I saw it as a time when music was more authentic since most musicians really had to become one with their instruments and they did. Some of the greatest guitar solos ever come from the 70's imo for example.
