TopicDoes accepting a "temporary" retail job devalue you as a future hire?

Actually, you have to put your current employer on your resum, regardless of how the skills translate. Prospective employers want to know that you're working. Not listing a current employer equates to having no job at all. Once that's no longer your current job, you can take it off your resum.

That said, take the job. You can find creative ways to translate your skills and get a reference out of the deal. Retail jobs tend to be transient - often times, people will work in one spot for six months, if that. It's fine.
