My experience to the game is pretty limited(CBT and like 4 hours of Japanese version) so I can't really comment on how useful particular ships are. As for ranking up, you use duplicate copies of ships to do it. It starts at 1 duplicate for a rank up but at higher ranks you need multiple copies to rank up. There are also substitution ships you can use so you don't have to always use duplicates. Eab1990 posted...
