Write-Up: First of all, I like this song but I am and was really disappointed that I made an "originals only" clause when making my list because of it. The best version of this song by Metallica imo would be faaaaaaaaaaaaar further up the list. In fact that is the version I'm listening to while I jot down this write-up since I prefer it more. The instrumentation is ok but I find Metallica's version to be more atmospheric which makes more sense to me given the song's theme. Unlike the recent Prince cover of When Doves Cry, they actually do this song a great service with their version. For the hell of it I'll give you a score for Metallica's version: [8.3][9.2][8.2][9.2][6.2][7.2][6.2] = [54.5] = [7.785] which would land it roughly around 532nd place on the list so you can see the difference.
