Write-Up:
This song is one of the first songs that I ever actually learned to play on the guitar. I can't play it as fast as the song requires but it's still recognizable. It actually has a similar picking pattern as Outside by Staind which is kinda neat and probably the reason I was able to actually learn it. As for the song as a whole.. it's kinda sappy and not all that exciting tbh. What I can't figure out is how this song became the bands only Top 10 charting hit when there are definitely a couple other songs of theirs that are better imo. Oh hey that's interesting... apparently Kerry Livgren who wrote the song only did so as a picking excercise while learning to play guitar. The whole song is a message about mortality and the eventual death of us all so it's sort of dark I guess and according to what I'm reading the theme was inspired by some passages in the bible (Genesis 3:19 and Ecclesiastes 3:20 for anyone interested in that.)
