I hadn't noticed that I can't set YouTube videos to automatically repeat on an iPad... I could have sworn that used to be possible, as I distinctly remember doing so back at the Mega Man Ranking Topic, but perhaps I'm remembering things wrong. That or YouTube continues to get worse on a constant basis. Or both. Probably both.

And of course the third party sites that would do it automatically are blocked for copyright purposes.... makes it a bit difficult to have these songs play on an endless loop while I'm typing up thoughts when YouTube expressly forbids it. I could always go over to Spotify, for those songs that have Spotify links, but there are number of songs that wouldn't and I'd rather not have some of these tracks attached to that account anyway. so I guess I'll just live with having to click the replay button each time.

((Fun fact, I've already had to restart this video multiple times just from that rant which isn't even related to the song. This is going to be a fun topic. *mutters vague curses under her breath*))

Aaaanywho, I'm not too crazy about modern country music. I'm sure there are exceptions--Brad Paisley's work on the Cars 2 soundtrack wasn't bad, though it's been long enough since I heard those songs that I can't offer any specific thoughts--and classic country (especially classic pop-country, like that brief period in Dolly Parton's career where she wanted to be a pop star) works for me, but modern just...doesn't, from what I've experienced.

In this song's defense, it's my own fault because I thought the central metaphor was going in a different direction. I used to be really naive when it came to sexual references in songs, where they would all go over my head... so now I kinda just assume everything to be one. I knew this was something of a break-up song about Blake Shelton and she was wearing bright red in the video, so I thought...the wagon was...uhh, you know.

Then she dropped the "front seat's broken and the axel's dragin'" line and I got really, really squicked out. Which isn't exactly the song's fault, but certainly made everything incredibly awkward. And trying to look up the actual meaning didn't help matters ; this isn't even her song originally and she doesn't seem to know what it means either, declaring that the wagon is a "state of mind" or whatever.

Yeah, Blake Shelton, you can't ride in her brain because it's broken. Ya burnt!

....

Either way, this song does nothing to overcome my natural bias against it. Video was also kinda "whatever". There was a dog in it, which was kinda nice?

[FINAL NOTES: There's a fine line between love and hate. If I listen to this song any more times, I'll probably start liking it ironically. It's already starting to happen; this started in dead last and has moved up a few spaces by being hilariously terrible.

And I got used to YouTube's restrictions. Once you remember to turn off autoplay and know in each song when you'll have to hit the replay button, it's not so bad; it is intentionally annoying and terrible design, but not as infuriating as expected when I started this.]

[FINAL-ER NOTES: Yeah, you can tell this was the first write-up written, back when I was positive this was getting last place.]
