I don't think the singers' voices or the upbeat nature of the music works very well with the lyrics. Most of the band just don't have enough edge to their voices to really sell the story ; whoever starts singing at 1:48 actually does and I like his part of the song, but the rest of the song is just too peppy for me (in this context, at any rate.)

It feels kinda like taking "Poison" by Alice Cooper, and then having a random boyband like *NSYNC bouncing along and overtaking the song for 2/3rds of it.

...now I kinda wonder if there are any mash-ups of Alice Cooper with random boybands. Also, I kinda wanna go listen to some more Alice Cooper at some point--I think I only know four songs of his (School's Out, Feed My Frankenstein, Poison, and No More Mr. Nice Guy), but I rather enjoy all four of those... kinda odd that I haven't ever tried finding a fifth song. Not that that's even remotely related to the topic, but I did warn everyone that these were steam of consciousness write-ups.

[FINAL NOTES: I need to start making a list of every artist this topic made me want to look into. While it's odd this song sparked an interest in Alice Cooper, that's still the start of...ZA'LIST.]

ZA'LIST eventually grows into a list of artists and albums I plan on seeking out after the topic ends. I've already gone back and edited in "A random song or two by a "Math Rock" artist" and "A couple more songs by "Justice"." onto the final version of ZA'LIST, so that I don't forget about them.

...In theory, anyway.

.....and yes, some of the things added to said list are actually inspired by what I'm listening to. Though there are a few other songs to come that succeeded in sparking an interest in things completely unrelated...
