And one more for the songs I knew way too well before this started series. I first encountered this song while researching the Dark Champion boss fight from the Sega CD Eternal Champions. I wanted to compare the in game boss fight to the MUGEN version and, being completely incapable of playing Eternal Champions, had to find someone else that actually could beat him and watch their video.

They were unable to record audio and just played seemingly arbitrary music over the fighting, including this song. It was completely mindblowing; as someone who never listened to metal, I never knew "symphonic metal" could be a thing. It opened my mind to new possibilities in a way that very few songs ever did.

I quickly bought a copy of the song from Amazon, studied everything about the concept album and its story so I could fully appreciate the lyrics, and hyped the song up as the greatest thing ever to anyone who would listen.

For the longest time, I refused to listen to any other songs by Kamelot. This one track was special, unique. It was like nothing I had ever heard of and I feared adding other, similar songs would ruin the mystique. These days, I've grown a bit tired of it; It's been too many years and I now want something new. I've skimmed some of their other work--I'm a fan of Veritas, as I'm a sucker for villain songs and it's basically the most JRPG Final Boss-esque song in existence.

If I could forget that I'd heard this song before and fall in love with it again, this would easily take first place. But I can't and it didn't.

[FINAL NOTES: I feel bad with this song getting a low placement in both my topic and Se7en's, especially since it was one of my favorite songs for so long... but like Viva la Vida, I'm burned out on the song and want something different. I'll always love it, but I...don't want it to be on this ranking at all, so it just barely escapes the bottom 50.]
