It does pick up at around the three minute mark, but until then, it's just too...natural for me to get into it. Add in the fact that it deals with topics I'm ill-equipped to discuss and does so in such a blunt way, you have a song that is about as far from my comfort zone as possible. Which is a good thing, but... I dunno. If you want an example of a vaguely similar song I love, then I'd cite "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman. I actually nominated it over at Se7en's topic, though I didn't have any prepared comments for it--just some basic comments about how I love the song, but really can't discuss the reality of generational poverty or how difficult it must have been for her to try breaking into folk music, when that genre was (and presumably still is) dominated almost exclusively by white men. Which...yeah, those are topics that should be discussed, but not by me and not in the context of a message board game. But something about Tracy Chapman's voice and message really resonates with me, in a way this nomination just doesn't. I had a feeling that I belonged I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone.... That line in particular is just so perfect... Well, anyway, this certainly isn't a bad song and it's one I should keep listening to because it's not my kind of thing... but I like a lot of other songs on this list more, so I'm sticking with dropping it here. [FINAL NOTES: What is with that outro? After the song fades out at 4:41-ish, there's this faint futuristic bit that comes in for a few seconds before quickly fading back out.
