Beyrl the War Cleric

Genasi (half Djinni, half Desert Giant)

Beryl is currently 15 years old which is very young for a Genasi,
and still a child for a Desert Giant.

At 13 Desert Giant children are allowed to first try to ride one of
the Desert Animals by themselves, it is a rite of passage that occurs
around the time of puberty. Beryl was always small even as a baby
compared to other Desert Giants, but by the age of 9 the difference was...giant.

There was no way for Beryl to ride even a Giant Scorpion at the age of 13 which
crushed him. His parents Brock and Cyenna comforted him and supported him, but
they used the opportunity to send him away, to Waterdeep. In Waterdeep was a
friend of the family, a Goliath named Blue. Blue was a blacksmith and he had a
daughter around Beryls age, and Beryls parents told him about her in order to
encourage him to travel.

Beryl believed they were embarresed by him, and that he would never be a Desert
Giant. He was too small, and puny. In reality, his parents had heard from the
sands and stone that an attack was on it's way, and that they, and the other
Desert Giants, would not survive. The only hope for their son, was to send
him away.

Beryl left, saddened, but hopeful for the future. He has a natural positive and
happy nature that is almost impossible to keep down. He traveled toward Waterdeep
and along the way he started to hear whispers from the stones as he traveled. Beryl
knew what this meant as his mother, Cyenna was the High priestess of Skoraeus Stonebones.
She had often mentioned the stones and sand talking to her, and he had witnessed her many
powers over the years.

One night, he had a terrible dream, it was full of violence and death, but he could not
remember any specifics after he woke. His body was hot, and his head was pounding
but he felt something was different as well. The stones were not as loud, but they
had more meaning and he felt a new strength flowing through him. He listened and
spent days almost in meditation, listening and learning. He found he could call
water from the stone, and even heal small wounds with a word.

This new power made him feel strong and fierce and he continued to listen and learn
as he made his way towards Waterdeep. A few days later, he was attacked by a group
of 3 goblins (very stupid goblins). They were small compared to him, but there was
three of them and they had ranged weapons. All he had was a wooden club to defend
himself with, and very little training in combat.
