Yeah pasta/carbs are good, long term energy and not heavy. Go for some veggies as well, and just a dab of protien...in fact I'd suggest a chicken/veggie stir fry.

Some onions/bell peppers (mushrooms if you like them), stir fried with just about 1/2 a chicken breast (sliced very thin), add in some nice pasta and terriyaki/sechuan sauce/spices for flavor. Very yummy and should last you awhile energy wise....not super heavy though, and quite good for you.

Also easy fast to make even from scratch but if you do it often, you can cut up the ingrediants and put em in baggies in the fridge, then just grab what you want and stir fry it in about 5-10 minutes (less time then it takes to boil the water and cook the pasta).

Super fast, super cheap and super yummy (flavored to your taste/spicyness level etc).

You can do beef or pork as well, chicken is the most healthy and very cheap though. You can get Chicken breasts for sale at safeway for about $1.30 or so when they have a sale and then just freeze em.....good for months..and they'll have another sale before you use it all probably.
