I almost didn't continue the series after season 1, and I still never watched either of the movies which frankly I don't care about at all. I have significant problems with large stretches of the show, and I wasn't particularly excited by the prospect of getting 48 more episodes of SAO (though it's turning out good so far!). It was more just like "oh so there's more SAO I guess we'll watch it and see how it turns out".
