Thanks for the responses, guys. I'm not trying to sound like a bigot or anything, I'm really curious as to how and why so many places in the Middle East get like this. My ex is from Iran and she told me she would never, EVER, go there. She comes in touch with some of her family that still lives there, but day to day you never know if they're going to be alive or respond to a message. I think Iran has banned Telegram in the past (or possibly have it even banned now), and that makes it more difficult.
