With the sale....WITH IT.....the mattress was $560 or so...........

Yeah, it was normally over 1k without a sale....

When Sears Canada closed down, there were a number of stories of people finding that sale items had new, higher price stickers placed over the old ones so that the alleged discount just brought the price back down to what it was originally. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they inflated their mattress prices a bit before applying that 50% discount.

This is a common tactic for large sales. Even amazon does it. Pretty much every place that closes down does it. Its really not worth going to a closing sale until its multiple weeks in, and by then youll be scraping to find anything good.

This is so true. And even then, I carefully compare prices to Amazon to make sure the sale price is actually decent, and also brace that not much will be left when you go during when the greater discounts are occurring. It's totally stupid to buy things, during the first few weeks of a store's liquidation sale.
