I'm looking for any random suggestions at the moment, not after anything particular--it is nice to find something that's actually of this genre though, since my attempt to find more avant-garde metal songs didn't really go anywhere (a flaw with my search technique, mostly).

Song is... I wouldn't say bad; I like that it's different, but... not a big fan of stories about cannibalism, really. It doesn't take itself too seriously ("YEE HAW!"), but it's still a bit off-putting.

Age Of

I feel like I should like this album more than I actually do. The title track that opens the song is by far my favorite track on the album; the way the song switches between almost depressingly normal and chaotic is intriguing and I like what's happening there.

The Station is perhaps the best representation of my thoughts of the album. It feels like something I'm supposed to love; we've got a highly synthesized voice, lyrics that are reminiscent of The Thing or Alien or something like that, a unique sound... but I'm not connecting with it, not like I did with the other two albums.

"Last Known Image of a Song" was interesting because the iPad decided to freeze while I was listening to it. The song would play, but I couldn't pause or look at anything else; only this song, which given the name, was equal parts appropriate and creepy. Not that I should give the song credit for unrelated technological failures, but it really set the mood.

Other songs also feel like things I should like. We've got songs about the apocalypse, songs that are the soundtrack to fictional films, a track with "cat" in the name... but they all feel like they're missing something? Or more likely I'm judging them too harshly because I enjoyed the other albums so much. Garden of Delete was so good I listened to the album in its entirety twice in one day, so just about any other album was going to have a hard time living up to those expectations.

Garden of Delete > R Plus Seven > Age Of.

...though I'd probably say I still enjoyed Age Of. I listened to it in the background while doing other things yesterday and my reaction was "I need to focus and pay attention to this album", not "I don't want to listen to this". And I did listen to it again today--a few songs multiple times in hopes of finding something I wanted to say about them. So the experience is still generally positive... but not quite the same.
