Yeah, I was going to post about NC-09 last night but the topic got pushed to 500 and no new one was made so it never happened.

So the only actual evidence of potential voter fraud from this election is from republicans?

I am shocked

Voter Fraud != Election Fraud

One's a nonissue.

One's Republican Standard Operating Procedure via egregiously awful gerrymandering, voter suppression, etc (Though I didn't think they strayed into the blatantly illegal side of it like this implies they might have)

Actually, we may have found the mythical ~voter fraud~ here this time. (Though with absentees, not the in-person voter fraud that VOTER ID!!!! would supposedly address. Which, you're right, is just not a thing.)

Silver posted that it definitely looks weird and that this situation isn't the usual voter fraud conspiracy: https://twitter.com/NateSilver538/status/1068335913162481664

(Silver points out, though notes it isn't necessarilly evidence, that Bladen County is the only county in the district where Rs held their ground compared to 2016, whereas in the others you see big shifts towards Dems. Also notes that it's also unclear that even if something did happen it's uncertain it'd swing the race, though he still says this whole situation is weird enough to call for AP and others to uncall the race.)

Here's a WaPo piece outlying much of the facts as we know them so far: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/11/30/why-allegations-voter-fraud-north-carolina-are-being-treated-seriously

Some of this has made the topic already, so just adding a few summaries of my own (but the read and the graphs in the article are worth reading!)

In every other non-Bladen County, McCready (the Democrat) won the mail-in absentees by at least 16 points. In Bladen it was Harris (R) by 24. When you add in the early in-person voting data, Bladen stands out even more, because there are 2 counties where Harris won early in-person, but in the other - Union - despite winning early in-person by ~20, he lost the mail vote by 20. In Bladen, Harris wins the mail votes by even more than the early in-person. Bladen is also an outlier in terms of % of mail-in absentees.

The state board has had 5 affidavits submitted to them describing instances of fraud.

As Suprak noted, the NC Board of Elections (4D/4R/1 Unaffiliated) voted unanimously to not certify NC-09's results. As well as the fact that Harris's primary win looks shady in light of all this, although in that case even if something were proven I don't think there's a remedy for that at this point. As for NC-09, the Board of Elections could call for a new election.
