With Amazon and Best Buy who the hell needs them anyway?

Amazon is steadily cutting incentive to buy games and charging more for Prime, and Best Buy did away with Gamer's Club Unlocked entirely. Gamestop is a great place to get used and older games (they're often missing the real case, but nowadays games very rarely come with any extras).

Honestly you don't even need Amazon or Best buys deals (both were 20% before, but are now gone), in order to generally save more money, if you just wait to buy digital. The digital stores have been having pretty drastic sales on quite a few games not long after they are released (and thats for exclusives). Look at assassins creed Odyssy for instance. I am getting it delivered to me for free, for $27 total. It's like......3 months? After it was released...not exactly sure how many but less then 6 for sure. That is less then half the price if I had bought it on release from gamestop etc. I believe the digital version was $30 on psn, and it was the same price on green man gaming. I had amazon credit so I got the ps4 version but honestly I probably should have just spent the extra for the PC version since it's easier to play.

What is really killing gamestop?

The simple fact that by the time they are giving any kind of actual discount on used games at all (and not selling it for $5 less then full retail) there is almost always a sale on the new game that is cheaper then the used versions at gamestop.

What is more, if the game is available on steam (and more and more of them are), you know for a fact if you wait you'll get it for at least 50% off, the question is just will you wait for a 75% sale (which can take a few years) or not.

Honestly i believe it's mostly a response to used game sales, since the game creators were loosing money big time on it, and they realized it. This way they get a large majority of the profits, but......gamestop has banked on used sales for a long time and without them, they are in serious trouble.

I wish the gaming community and specifically the companies making and producing the games would "rescue" gamestop in some way, but allowing them to actual make a profit on new sales, but it's not likely to happen. The only way to really do that is to charge less for games sold at gamestop (so gamestop can make a profit), and that is never going to happen.
