9: Hey, hey, they're The Monkees!

I've mentioned my nostalgia for this band at least once before, but did you know they were the first band I really loved? I couldn't get enough of their music when I was really little and I'd get so excited whenever old reruns of their show would come on... but what to choose?

"I'm a Believer" because people already know the song thanks to a cover appearing in Shrek?

"Daydream Believer", possibly my current favorite song of theirs?

"Steppin' Stone", the other candidate for my favorite song by The Monkees which offers a much harsher and crueler tone than their other greatest hits?

"Last Train to Clarksville", their subtle attempt at an anti-war song? Lotta stories to tell about that one... or do I fully embrace the insanity and pick an objectively terrible song because it was my favorite when I was really, really little? Like there was ever an option...

It's charitable to even call this a song. Allegedly this was written as a serious song, but they went nuts and improvised...this. It's insanity; misssed cues, off key singing, terrible puns, the group constantly breaking into laughter--and I absolutely adored it, once upon a time. Surprisingly enough, I still kinda like it; it's goofy and fun.

10.Something furry.

I could go mainstream and pick something Disney related, but let's be honest. That's too easy and I've got to throw in at least one Chipettes' song before this topic series purges. Obviously we have to have a Chipettes doing an unlicensed cover of a Disney song! (Seriously, the album had to make a note that Disney did not approve.)

He's a Tramp:

This song is peak furry-ness. Chipmunks singing a song as dogs, complete with barking and howling? *contented sigh*

Honestly, if I had to pick exactly one song to represent me, this has to be it. As someone who can't bother to commit to any one form for any length of time and whose had to deal with multiple "you can't meow, you're a [insert whatever non-cat animal I'm referring to myself as at that exact moment]!" arguments, there's something very comforting about a song with barking chipmunks.

And with that, I can go back to vanishing into the background. I probably should have spaced this out over the course of a few days, but I wanted to get it over with before I had a chance to second guess my choices of songs.

Thank you to everyone who nominated anything and a double thank you to anyone who posted in this sequel topic. I'm done bumping the topic, but if anyone wishes to post any final songs, I shall be sure to listen to them and say something before allowing it to purge. Otherwise, I'll see you all later... in the other music ranking topics I have songs nominated at, since I'm not really going anywhere. *coughs*

Topic was a lot fun and I'd love to do another ranking topic again someday, but we can come back to that idea in a few months. Perhaps April? I like to think that's long enough to avoid flooding the board with my terrible opinions and a good amount of time for me to do other things, but... well we'll see what's going on around that time when it comes.
