The problem is that the committee still puts a large weight on who "deserves" to be there. There is essentially nobody on Earth who thought that Notre Dame was better than Georgia. But they get in, with virtually zero controversy, because they "deserve" it. Give me 1 vs 2. No selection committee. Put it in the hands of the Vegas sportsbook point spread power rankings people.
