DPsx7,

If your not just trolling, then, did you ever consider that if steam was brand new, you might have just hit a temporary problem and tried to figure out how to fix it?

Tons of people (including myself) have played many steam games while in offline mode. It's easy, and it works with all non-online only games (MMO's etc).

Also, it may not even have been a bug, since you stated that your broadband was intermittant back then, you can download stuff just fine if the internet goes in and out...because it just resumes. But if you need to connect to the internet with a game first to play in offline mode, and your broadband back then was down, you wouldn't have been able to play it....unless you tried again later when it was back up.

Whatever the case, arguing that steam is evil is insanely crazy at this point. You don't even have to buy ANY games anywhere near full price on steam to have an insanely amount of games...for practically nothing. Just buying Humble bundle etc deals, for $1 over the years would give you a freakton of amazing games that you paid hardly anything for....and the only way to get them ...for the most part, was through steam.

Add the fact that until recently the only way to get most of the big games at 75% off or more....was also through steam. You could get them with such a discount when they were still full price on consoles (and often when even other ways of getting pc versions of the game were still pretty close to full price).

Steam has proven itself, easily at this point. Don't get me wrong, it has problems, it didn't .......police...the games it sold well enough so in some cases crappy games that shouldn't be sold were put up.....but it ended up adding the ability to fully refund any game with less then 2 hours playtime (Think it's within 2 weeks as well). If a game is absolute garbage, you can refund it fully within 2 hours. That mostly solved it's biggest problem.

I honestly wish consoles would work more like steam, it has pretty much become the best platform for games in my opinion.
