People who have amassed a living Pokedex (a comprehensive collection of all Pokemon that they transfer from Gen to Gen) now have years and years of work sitting on a cloud meaning virtually nothing ever again. People who want to play through the game a second time with a team of their favorites don't get to. When/if Gen IV remakes come out, there will be extremely limited trading/battling compatibility between those and S/S. Competitive implications obviously. Some Pokemon aren't going to show up for years and years if the TCG is any indication. When would region-specific forms ever show up again?
